I know how it feels to be overwhelmed by all of the tasks I have to do. To want to eliminate stress but have no clue on where to start. There have been plenty of days where I have stared at my to do list and broke out into a major anxiety attack. When that happened nothing got done, and I ended up in bed binge watching Telenovelas. When the day was done, I felt horrible because none of my core actions got done.
I would start the entire process over the next day by piling more items on my schedule and adding more anxiety to my life. It was the cycle of insanity. How was I ever going to get all of this stuff done, I thought? Each day it felt like I was trying to put out a California forest fire with buckets of water. Let’s Eliminate the Stress of Scheduling
It’s time to get down to business. Here are the three ways you can begin to eliminate stress and overwhelm in your schedule today:
- Does it Need to Be There? – Does this item even need to be on your daily action plan? Is the task taking you to the desired outcome or is it fueling one of your life areas? Does it need to be on your daily action plan today? Ask yourself, if I moved this to another day would the world cave in? The answer, probably not.
- Who Can You Give it To? – One of the things I always tell myself is, “although I feel this item needs to be done today, does it need to be done by me?” Share the load with your team, your husband, children, or outsource if you’re able. We place so much pressure on ourselves to get the job done when we could be sharing the load. Go back and read my article on setting boundaries if you need help delegating to others.
- Does it align? – Does this item help you to achieve your foundational feelings? Does it move your closer to your purpose? If the items on your daily action plan are not fulfilling a higher purpose, you’re always going to feel burned out and overwhelmed.
