One of the most requested questions I get is, “When I schedule my day I always over schedule, how do I stop?”

If you find that you have more to do than the day to do it in this is the post for you. In this post, I am sharing the three ways you can create a schedule to eliminate the daily overwhelm.

When I begin my journey with time I always found that I was over scheduling my day. The schedule that was supposed to bring ease brought stress instead. I found that I had more leftover at the end of the day than when I started it. Since I am a solutions oriented type of girl, I knew there had to be a fix to my overage problem.

My three step process to eliminate daily overwhelm

If thinking about your schedule feels heavy, these three steps are for you.   Adding space in your day takes practice and determination. There will always be things that are fighting for your attention to be added to your daily list. Your aim is only to choose those things that are taking closer to your desired outcomes.

So how do you keep from overscheduling your day? Here’s how:

  1. Take time to evaluate – Take one week or more to evaluate your current daily actions. Begin tracking how long each one takes to complete. This means using tools like Time Doctor to track how long it takes you to complete your tasks. Evaluating an action is going to give you a baseline on how long it takes to complete a project.
  2. Check in – As you move throughout your day are you listening to your GPS (Gut Positioning System)? Ask is what I’m doing creating my foundational feelings and purpose? Your body will always let you know when it’s time to stop trolling Facebook or shut your work down for the night. Listen to it; it’s your spirit trying to save you from burnout.
  3. Create space – Once you know how long a task takes and the energy required to complete it, you are now at an advantage. You can begin to create space in your schedule around the task. Creating space means that you leave space after a task. Leaving space in your day allows for you to breathe and not feel rushed.
